The European Hematology Association (EHA) promotes excellence in patient care, research and education in hematology. EHA envisions a world without blood disorders by connecting hematologists worldwide. The activities undertaken serve clinicians and scientists in their efforts to improve hematology care for patients.
Each year, EHA organizes a congress in a major European city attended by approximately 12,000 hematologists. In addition, EHA develops and organizes education and training programs, publishes scientific journals, advocates for hematology and hematologistst in the European arena and offers a career development program. EHA is governed by a Board and supported in its activities by various committees from around the world and the Executive Office located in The Hague.
With 30 (result)driven and enthusiastic staff members from over 15 nationalities, the organization is growing rapidly. Because of this growth, which is expected to continue, the organization is working towards a new structure with new management roles. The Manager Medical Education is a new role within the EHA organization.
Offering medical education for hematology professionals is one of EHA’s pillars. To support hematology professionals in updating their knowledge, a broad program of online and live opportunities is offered. The recently launched EHA Campus, a new online learning platform, is an important highlight and offers a wide variety of learning tools.
The department of Medical Education currently consists of 3 Project Coordinators and is expanding. As a team they are involved in the overall organization and execution of a variety of projects of EHA’s Medical Education Program. The department is characterized by decisiveness, a hands-on mentality and has great ambitions to further develop and expand activities, focusing on online learning to obtain a leading position in the field of hematology education. To facilitate this, EHA has created a new man-agement position to take the department to the next level.
As Manager Medical Education you are responsible for the daily business of the department and directing and coaching the Project Coordinators. You will take the lead in achieving education goals and ambitions in close collaboration with the Project Coordinators and the management team. Additionally, it is essential to connect and collaborate with hematology professionals to set appropriate goals and realize appealing and high standard educational programs. Therefore, participation in committees and working groups is an important part of the job.
You will prepare and implement the department’s annual plan and manage the department budget. Optimizing work processes, effective collaboration within your department, committees and working groups, as well as monitoring the progress of projects are key areas of attention. You will report to the Executive Director and take part in the management team. As a member of the management team, you contribute to the implementation of the recently determined and ambitious strategic course.
You have specific knowledge of designing and setting up educational programs, a relevant degree and an academic work- and thinking level. You excel in operational management and are capable of thinking strategically. You have a natural way of switching between an operational and strategic level.

Preferably, you have worked with clinicians and scientists in an intercultural environment. You understand the importance to facilitate professionals and create bridges between business operations and the primary processes of EHA. You see opportunities and act proactively.

This is a full-time position, initially for 1 year with the prospect of permanent employment. EHA is situated in the beautiful centre of The Hague near The Hague Central Station, is easy accessible by public transportation and has parking space available.
